Without doubt, the most frequently uttered sentence I’ve heard in 15 years working at TISS.
Closely followed by “even if I fit an anti-siphon, there’s still nothing stopping a thief sticking a hole in the tank”**
In fairness both assertions are correct.
Therefore, having been slapped in the face with two fairly damning objections, why do I continue to spend my entire working (plus a damn sight of my personal) life beating the drum about TankSafe?
It’s because I’ve stood in countless Truck yards hearing fleet owners exclaim: ‘Aaahh – I get it now’ after I’ve shown them how their fuel can be easily skimmed in seconds despite having an anti-siphon fitted.
It’s because of the Fleet Engineer I met in Eldoret (City in Kenya – google it) who, despite having invested thousands in telematics to protect all the fuel in his tank, was still able to save an additional 30 litres of fuel per tank per journey after fitting TankSafe® ‘Optimum’.
It’s because of the CCTV I’ve seen of a Driver trying to get fuel out of a tank fitted with TankSafe® first via a siphoning tube, second via a lump hammer and chisel.
If you’re in any doubt, he failed. Both times.

**Addendum – I realise I haven’t dealt with this objection in the above blog. So here goes: 99% of fuel theft is conducted by Drivers. Ask yourself this: ‘Is a Driver really going to get stranded after damaging their own fuel tank to steal a few litres of fuel?’
