Marketing – a rebrand and reposition

It’s certainly been a busy start to 2021! However, 4 months into the year I’m pleased to have ‘signed off’ on an extensive rebrand and repositioning of my company TankSafe.

A board decision was made in December ’20 that the company needed a rebrand to excite existing customers and entice new ones. For years, we have been marketing the company around our products’ ability to prevent all fuel theft. However, our products offer far more than that.

The product offers 3 unique benefits: prevention of fuel loss, stopping overfilling and eradicating diesel spills. The latter 2 benefits are a huge safety implication, not just for Truck Operators but for wider society. We know it’s a huge problem, as our products have been recognised by Road Safety Groups such as the British Motorcycle Federation’s ‘Kill Spills’ Action Group, and also the charity Brake.

However, we have never promoted this enough.

After an extensive bidding process, we partnered with Mosquito Digital, one of the largest digital and brand marketing agencies in the North West.

Working in partnership with them we have completely overhauled the brand, renamed the company and established a new higher level message of the value our products offer, namely ‘protecting the environment, making roads and workplaces safer and preventing all fuel theft’. Or put simpler: ‘Safety, Protection, Prevention’.

Whilst I am really pleased with the look and feel of the new website, what I am most proud of is my work on our new video telling the story of how our product meets ‘the three pillars’ that run throughout the brand. From the creation of the original storyboard, writing the script, advising on the edits, right through to the management of the launch, it has taken up a lot of my time.

However, the effort has been worth it. We have had a unanimously positive response to the video and new enquiries and business it has generated has already meant it has paid for itself many times over.
